Columbus (Genoese: Christoffa original Name Corombo, [citation needed] born 30 October 1451 – 20 may 1506, at age 54) was an Explorer and trader from Genoa, Italy, who crossed the Atlantic Ocean and reached the Americas on October 12, 1492. The trip is funded by Queen Isabella of Castile, Queen of Spain after the conquest of Andalusia. He believes that the Earth is spherical, and think a boat can get to the far East via the West.

Columbus was not the first people to arrive in America, which he found were already occupied. He is also not the first European to arrive to the continent as it has now been widely recognized that the Vikings from Northern Europe have travelled to North America in the 11th century and founded a colony L'Anse aux Meadows for a brief period. There are estimates that the unknown sailors never visited America before Columbus and membekalkannya, the source for his victory.
